The M3 x 4mm metric thread insert is a small component made of metal, designed to reinforce threads in lower strength materials such as plastics, wood or soft metals. With the use of such inserts, damaged threads can be repaired or made more durable in areas subject to frequent screwing in and out, to strengthen mounting points in new constructions. It can be glued or heated and molded into the hole.
